What We Love

Location! There are green spaces and mature trees everywhere, very highly respected schools are close by, and the Danforth subway’s at your door.

What We Don’t Love

We used to say the dining options were somewhat limited beyond Greek, but that’s less and less the case every year. Really, the only things left not to like are the house prices and aggressive competition to get in.

The Real Estate Scoop

Property prices in Riverdale have skyrocketed over the years, but generally, you get what you pay for: large Edwardian or Victorian homes, safe, residential streets and great parks. A crucial factor in how much you pay is the school district a home falls into; it’s not uncommon for houses in the Frankland or Jackman school districts to sell at a significant premium. Get off the main streets and you’ll find that Riverdale isn’t all huge detached houses, although even at the more affordable end of the spectrum, houses can be pricey.

If you’re hoping to make Riverdale your next neighbourhood, do your homework and be prepared to move quickly. Demand here is high, and residents don’t often leave until they are considering downsizing. When listings do come up, they tend to disappear rather quickly, and most often in bidding wars.

Transit

Broadview Streetcar is the main north-south TTC artery. Bloor-Danforth subway stops are close by, and Gerrard has regular streetcar service. Drivers have easy access to the DVP, Gardiner and Lakeshore.

Schools

There are plenty of schools, among them some of the best-reputed public and private schools in the city.
