The West 833 Lofts derives its name simply from its address on King Street West, though it’s actually an amalgamation of two buildings. The three storey low-rise section was a 1930’s Art Deco perfume factory, and when it was converted in 1998, a 7-storey contemporary edition was added; in total West 833 houses 52 lofts, both hard and soft.
The lofts at West 833 are bright and spacious and feature open layouts with large windows that beautifully light suites ranging in size from 700 to over 1600 square feet. Partial walls allow in extra light, dramatic ceiling heights in one or two level plans start at 10 feet and soar upwards of 18 feet in some units, others feature exposed brick walls. Residents share a spacious rooftop terrace that provides a view of Stanley Park across the street while grilling for guests.
This is a recognized heritage building in the Niagara neighbourhood, surrounded by the many dining and entertainment options of King West and Liberty Village. Recreation is next door in Stanley Park – great for dog owners – and there is a strong local sense of community.
What We : This is a smallish, unique building, and we love the Art Deco style that’s so unusual in Toronto.
What We Don’t: The new construction units aren’t as exciting as the converted ones…and of course, the vintage ones are few and far between.
