That’s what it’s like in Roncesvalles—all the convenience and charm of a small town in a 15-minute neighbourhood. Strolling down the street to get dinner ingredients — cheese from Thin Blue Line, a pork chop from The Meat Department or chicken from Rowe Farms, a pint of pistachio gelato from Ed’s Real Scoop — you are likely to run into the people you know from outdoor yoga, the kids’ schools and the dog parks. People from all over the city flock to restaurants like Barque, Pizzeria Defina and, of course, the neighbourhood staple, Cafe Polonez, where the Polish food is so authentic there are always elderly Polish people eating there – the sign of great ethnic cuisine. The schools are great, and the access to transit (TTC and UP) is plentiful (with direct access to the West Toronto Railpath from Sorauren Park in the works). Sorauren Park itself is the nucleus of the ‘hood. Walk past the cafes on the street and amble through its ball diamond and soccer fields. Take the dog to the dog park and the kids to the swings.
