Welcome To Clarkson
Welcome to Mississauga’s Clarkson neighbourhood!
Clarkson, Mississauga borders on some very expensive areas – Lorne Park and Port Credit to the east, and Eastlake, Oakville to the west; and although Clarkson has some expensive parts of its own, overall it has become a haven for families looking for easy commutability to Toronto via its own station stop, and a more affordable price point.
The people who live in Clarkson, love Clarkson. Unlike many suburban neighbourhoods, this area has a real sense of community – and there are always events to get involved in if that’s what tickles you fancy. Renowned for its numerous community experiences, Clarkson hosts the bi annual Taste of Clarkson along Lakeshore, Halloween Funfest, and Christmas in Clarkson as an annual tree lighting ceremony (just to name a few!).
Clarkson Mississauga’s main street (Lakeshore) is bustling with unique shops and eateries for every taste – check out Casalingas for some incredible pizza, Michael’s Back Door for a high-end dining experience, or The Clarkson Pump for some happy hour pizza and wings. And don’t forget about the greenspace – Clarkson really has it all. Some of the city’s best sightlines are from the little known Watersedge Park at the very south end of Clarkson, which is just a stone’s throw from the Rattray Marsh Conservation area. But the biggest (and most infamous) of them all? Jack Darling Memorial Park! Where you can lounge out at the small beach front area, cook up some burgers on the park grills, and watch some fireworks during the long weekends.

Your Typical Neighbour
Your typical neighbour in Clarkson Mississauga can vary greatly depending on where your home is situated: west of Southdown towards Oakville you can expect to see more blue-collared workers and young families, as this area tends to be more affordable than it’s easterly counterpart. East of Southdown (closer to Lorne Park) and towards the lake is a bit of a different story; while you’re still likely to be surrounded by families, you’ll find it more common to live next to a white-collar/executive type and dual-income households.
What We Love
So much housing diversity, so much development, and so many restaurant choices in Clarkston. Walkability in a suburban neighbourhood (which can’t be said for many areas) and a commute to downtown in 25 minutes flat.
What We Don’t Love
Born of a grittier past, some parts are still developing.
The Real Estate Scoop
Many of the homes in Clarkston were built circa 1950-1970, but there have been some newer condo developments as of late – Southdown Towns on Bromsgrove, The Craftsman on Lakeshore, S2 on Southdown, and Eleven11 Towns on Clarkson Rd N – the majority of the freehold housing stock is a more mature feel. Much of the available housing inventory is made up of semis, side splits, and back splits (which makes sense given the time of development), with prices ranging from the low $600s to well over $2M.
Generally, people moving here are looking for easy commutability into the city using the Clarkson Go Train (with express trains getting you downtown in under 25 minutes), and more bang for your buck than a traditional Toronto neighbourhood (while still maintaining a neighbourhood and community feel).
